> Timesheet duration :
.
Use the drop-down menu in the "Timesheet duration" field to choose the time span for the timesheets you and your employees will create. Your choices are Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, and Monthly (the default is Weekly).

.
Set the number of rows of notes that can be entered for individual time entries before having to scroll.
.
> Width of the hourly cells on a timesheet:
.
Set the cell width for timesheet entries. The ideal setting is as small as possible while still ensuring that users can see the entire number they entered. This will depend on users' systems and the number of decimal places to which time is tracked.
.
> > Show/hide Time type, Client/Project, Task, and/or Service drop-downs on the main [timesheet] grid:
.
The time type drop-down is shown on the main grid by default. The client/project and services drop-downs will show up in the Description pop-up window (access by clicking on a date cell’s blue dot) only if these entities are populated in the Account tab; the task drop-down will appear only if that user has assigned tasks in Projects. Use the checkboxes to move any of the drop-downs to the main grid or to the pop-up window.
.
(Please note: If you want to show only clients with associated projects, you must check off the "Show only clients with projects" box under the "Optional Features" section of the Company > Settings dialog; otherwise, you can assign time to a client without assigning the time to a specific project.)
up
> Require a time type, client/project, service, task:
.
Checking the boxes adjacent to these entries means that users must make selections from the corresponding drop-downs in order to successfully save and submit their time.
If you require a task on time entries, you can make exceptions, based on the time type selected. To exempt a time entry from the task requirement based on the selected time type, go to Account > Timesheets > Time types > [select time type]. Check the box "A task is not required for this time type" and save.
.
> Show only clients and projects with open tasks assigned to the user:

Checking this box limits the user's options in the timesheets drop-down menu to the clients and projects for which this user has open tasks assigned.

.
> Require "Hours remaining" estimates for all tasks:
.
If you would like to require that users enter estimates for hours remaining on tasks they have been working on (they will not be able to submit their timesheets without entering these estimates), check off this box, and then click "Save."
.
> Use the system estimate if "Hours remaining" are not entered:
.
This feature is useful if you want managers to be able to see an estimate of hours remaining on tasks without requiring users to update all their estimates on every timesheet. If the user submits a timesheet without estimating the hours remaining for a task, the system creates an estimate when the timesheet is approved. The estimate is calculated as the last approved estimate (or the total planned hours if there isn't one) minus the hours entered for the task on this timesheet. A "System estimate" column is also added to the Timesheets > Hours remaining form.
.
Note: To use this feature the "Enable the "Hours remaining" on tasks estimating feature" must also be turned on.
