Repeat tasks This feature allows you to repeat a task at a specified interval over a specified duration. You can set up a task to repeat when creating or editing a task. To repeat a task from teh Edit>Task screen: 1. Click on the "Projects" tab, and then on "All Projects." 2. Click on the name of the Project, and then on the "Edit tasks/phases" link. 3. Click on the the name of the task you want to repeat. 4. In the "New [phase/task]" or "Edit [phase/task]" form, click on the "Create" (or "Edit") button adjacent to the line "Repeat task." 5. In the "Repeat" dialog use the top two dropdown menus to select the frequency with which you want the task to repeat and choose one of the buttons under "Duration" to either indicate the number of times the task should be repeated or the last date on which a repeated task should be created. 6. Click "OK" to return to the "New..." or "Edit..." dialog. 7. If you have finished entering information in the "New..." or "Edit..." dialog, click on "Save" (or, in a "New..." dialog, you can choose to click on "Save & create another phase/task"). Note: There are several things to note about repeating tasks. - Attachments and estimates are unique to the task and are not repeated - You can only set the predecessors in the first task of a repeating group - You can only set the start and fnlt dates in the first task of a repeating group - If you copy or move a task it gets detached from the repeating group - Repeating tasks use the user calendar so if a repeating task falls on an off day it will get moved forward to the first work day - If the repeating group has an end date and in the future the start date of the first task gets pushed forward then the task that would start after the end date will "stack up" on the end date. They will not get deleted. |
